Proper Hot Chocolate

  • 50g chocolate, (plain chocolate is best)
  • 400ml milk
  • Mini marshmallows to decorate
  • Grated chocolate (optional)

  1. Break the chocolate up into small pieces.
  2. Put the broken chocolate pieces into a heatproof bowl.
  3. Pour all the milk into a pan and bring to the boil. If you're outdoors you can do this over a campfire, outdoor stove or barbecue.
  4. Pour a quarter of the milk over the chocolate.
  5. Fold the milk and chocolate together until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth.
  6. Bring the remaining milk in the pan back to the boil.
  7. Pour the boiled milk onto the chocolate mixture and stir well until combined.
  8. Pour into mugs and decorate with marshmallows. Grate some chocolate on top if you want as well.
