Where Will You be Meeting Santa this Christmas?
Where Will You be Meeting Santa this Christmas?
Now we all know the magical powers of Santa. Every Christmas Eve he manages to deliver presents to all the children all around the world. No amount of fog or snow will ever leave his sleigh or reindeer stranded at Gatwick. And of course to make sure he gets everything on your list you have to go and see him sometime in December.
…and we’re not talking about the Grotto at your local shopping centre
If you’ve been reading Squid and Me you’ll know Santa also travels by steam here in South Yorkshire (and even by Land Rover according to our office manager Kylie). He’s also been known to take to the footplate of steam trains all over the country including at the National Rail Museum at York. No one goes home empty handed including mum and dad who are always easily distracted from the growing list of pressies when a warm mince pie is put in their hand.
Santa could be anywhere so you better watch out, you better not cry
In his attempts to find out who’s been naughty and nice, Santa hides out in many unusual places:
- Lighthouses
- Caves
- Woodland trails
- Tropical gardens
- Castles
- Trams - very popular in Switzerland according to our Little Trekkers Ambassador Fiona who lives there
- A log cabin at the top of a ski slope …hmm, this is according to our web whiz wonderkid Jon (think he might have overdone it on the eggnog).
- I wasn't going to mention Grottos at department stores and shopping centres but it was at one of these said establishments that I first met the great man in Lincoln in 1976.
