Little Trekker Goes Trekking!
There's loads to do at the Forestry Commission's High Lodge Forest Centre during the summer months – it’s an excellent place to visit all year-round but during the summer they add a number of extra activities in to the mix. For the adventurous there is combat paint balling and a very cool survival skills course.
They also have "free range seggs" - Seggways are those funny two-wheeled contraptions that you stand on and operate by leaning slightly forward or back. Not sure about those and we have seen a couple of interesting dismounts but they do look like fun.
For the children there are also often things on and recently they've had a couple of ponies there for riding. Harris was smitten as soon as he saw "Bella" so we thought we'd give him a go. He's only two and a half but as soon as he was in that saddle he shoved my hand away and was off, smiling all the way.
I think he'd have stayed on all afternoon if we'd let him but luckily he knows that the cafe sells lovely ice-cream so we were able to entice him away. I don’t know what we'd do without High Lodge. :-)

What a fantasic place to visit! So many things to do and see! The smile on Harris's face says it all.
