Make Your Own Stick Boat
Now that Summer is here, we spend a lot of afternoons at our local lake. One of our favourite activities at the lake is making boats, which is super simple and quick to do, yet can provide a whole afternoons worth of entertainment.
To make your own stick boat you will need;
- 5 - 8 sticks of a similar(ish) length string or wool
- 2 ice lolly sticks (or tongue depressors if you want a really big boat) to tie your other sticks to
- A piece of paper or leaf for the sail (optional)
- Once you have collected 5 - 8 sticks, tie them to the ice lolly sticks (make sure you have eaten the ice lolly first!).
- This will give you a raft, which will float very well.
- If you fancy turning your raft into a sail boat, then push a stick into a gap somewhere near the middle of the raft, and add a sail made of paper (if Mummy remembered to bring some) or a large leaf (if Mummy forgot the paper).
- If it is a windy day and you don't want to loose your boat, then tie some string to it to hold before the launch.
Happy sailing.

Great idea - hope to try that very soon - Harry is very fond of both ice lollies and collecting sticks so we should be on to a winner there! Very jealous of your lovely sunshine - enjoy!
