Snowboarding and Skiing in Sweden

This winter we went to Sweden, It was a last minute holiday so we didn’t really have any idea what to expect. Well, it was probably one of the best holidays we have had yet! We have never seen so much snow. The weather was blue skies every day bar one, and although the temperature never got above -6 with us all wrapped up it was fine. The coldest we saw was -19.

Mira started the week on her snowboard but at 4 she seemed to have got as far as she could. She could only turn one way which is never ideal! So we changed her to skis and by the end of day one on her skis she was flying up lifts and down runs. Quite scary sometimes as she would go quite fast for a little person that had just learnt to ski.

Mira skiing downhill Mira, watch her go, blink and you'll miss her!

She also seemed to sing to herself as she rode down the hill so I don’t think she thought she was going fast. It was all taken in her stride.

We also got Corey on his little plastic skis and he loved that and just kept shouting 'more, more', he also hitched a ride on his Daddy's board. Roll on next year once Corey is 2 and half and we can all enjoy skiing on the mountain together.

I would recommend anyone with a young family to go to Sweden. The resorts are so child friendly, the Lifties are so helpful to get young kids on and there are no queues. As long as you wrap up well it's a great place to go.

Sounds fantastic! My brother lives in Stockholm and I love visiting him there. It's a very long way from Chile, though, unfortunately! Very inspired by your family's adventures in the snow. I thought perhaps they were too young (Gwen's only 17 months) but now I think we might attempt to take our girls to the slopes on the volcanoes in Chile this Winter... Thanks!
