A Visit to the Pumpkin Farm

A Visit to the Pumpkin Farm Autumn is well and truly here in our part of the world, so recently we visited a local farm to admire the pumpkin sculptures. Every year they create a series of sculptures based on a theme, and previous themes have included dinosaurs and fairy tales. This year it is 'Swiss things' and thankfully the Swiss things weren't too obscure, so we worked out what most of them were! Things like a Swiss Army Knife and someone playing an alp horn. The sculptures were nice, but not as interesting to the girls as the dinosaurs were last year. Plus I had underestimated just how quickly that Autumn chill can arrive, and failed to pack warm enough coats. We were all ready to go inside and eat hot pumpkin soup pretty quickly! But despite the cold we did venture back out eventually so everyone could choose a pumpkin to take home and carve. Written by Fiona Moore on Tuesday, 25 October 2011.
