I mentioned in my previous post that we were slightly behind schedule when we went swimming with the ducks. Much to Ashley’s disgust, I love to have an itinerary on a city-break type of holiday.
Otherwise, with Ashley’s laid-back approach to life, in combination with the Little Trekkers’ ability to get side-tracked with a million often insignificant distractions, we’d never get anything done.
Every once in a while though, we come across something that warrants throwing the itinerary out the window. This was definitely one such occasion!
We’d just passed the Peter Pan statue in Hyde Park on our way to the Lido, when we came across some people feeding the green Parakeets. We’d seen a few flying around but hadn’t expected to be able to get so close and this was clearly an opportunity not to be missed. Apples were hastily retrieved from rucksacs and cut up as quickly as possible. Not quickly enough though, for our distinguished picnic guests!
Chloe was mad keen to have a go at feeding them herself. They didn’t need much persuading. She wasn’t too happy, mind you, when one decided to perch on her arm! Harry decided it was a much better idea to use Ashley’s arm as a perch instead. What an amazing experience! The parakeets seemed to enjoy it just as much as we did, even showing their best side for the photos. It’s almost as if they knew they’d have a starring role on the Little Trekkers’ Ambassador Blog!
